KIDS RULES
We Use the IBJJF rules set for the kids divisions.
Penalties - disciplinary penalties (DQ)
- Sandbagging: Going back to a lesser experience category if you have competed in a higher category before. Having competition or many training hours in a different art, like JUDO or WRESTLING and entering a novice or beginner category
- Lack of respect for opponent, ref, mat, volunteers. Respect is an important part of our art. Dont yell, shout, behave aggressively, or behave improperly towards your opponent or towards our staff. Even if, god forbids, a ref makes a mistake. We WILL kick you out.
Penalties - Lack of combativeness
- Stalling: A first penalty will result in a warning, a second penalty will result in the
opponent being given 1 point, a third penalty will be given 2 points to the opponent,
the fourth penalty will result in disqualification.
Winning
By submission by points, by DQ of opponent, by referee decision. In case of draw, most
offensive fighting player wins.
*Double pull guard (after 20 seconds if none of the athletes stands a penalty for each will be applied and the fight will be restarted standing, if one of the athletes before the 20 seconds reaches the end he will be awarded 1 point not for standing but by the opponent's guardpull, if both stand up before 20 seconds, nothing will be awarded to either athlete).
** If you SERIOUSLY shoot in, get sprawled on, and then go to (half)guard, 0 points for either
*** A positional point is only awarded progressively, from side to mount for example. So in
case of a transition from mount to side, no points. When the bottom opponent reclaims
(half) guard, all points can be scored again.
**** Example, an armbar attempt is made. The arm is caught and the opponent has to stack or explode out. This is a catch. Offensive players will be able to accumulate points. So go out and (try) to submit!
***** First you get a “Warning for stalling”, then you have 10 seconds to start attacking. e.g.
you have a guy in closed guard, and are passive. Or you are on top in guard, and hanging
forward, just defending, not posturing, not trying to actively open the guard.
Spectator rules
No kids minus 12 on the mats whilst a fight is on. So especially no babies or small kids close
to the mats, we dont want nasty accidents.
Respect all – cheer for your mates, don’t cuss, yell at refs or opponents
Clothing
MMA/grappling pants or gi pants. Shirts and rashguards are allowed.
Protection
Mouth guard, ear guard and/or knee protection are allowed. No cups/groin guards.
No unsportsmanlike conduct is allowed (warning or DQ, depending of severity). No headbutting, striking or kicking (DQ). No eye gauging, fish-hooking, scratching, biting or hairpulling (DQ). No small joint manipulation (less then three fingers)(DQ). No fingers in the eye area. Cross facing and pushing away is allowed. All throws except slams are allowed, but do not throw your opponent on his head on purpose (DQ).
WARNING: use sun lotion with care, wipe away with towel before fighting.
